Details of placements:
Steven Van Der Poll 22 years: Client was assisted with basic services and referred to social worker and skills trainer.
James Smith 47 years: He is disabled and receives a state grant. His foot was injured and he is unable to move around easily. James had lived at District six several times and has a alcohol problem. I have communicated with the social worker at Retreat and motivated James to go to AA meetings while he is there.
Jonathan Louw 47 years: He was assisted with the basic services and placement at District six. He also has an alcohol problem and was motivated to attend AA meetings. He has a casual job and is able to sustain himself.
Mustapha Safodien 62 years: He came to me for assistance in terms of accommodation due to rejection by his family he is now left destitute. I contacted Haven Homes and placed him on a waiting list. Fortunately for him I was contacted the next day with an appointment for an interview and it was decided in the interview that he fits the criteria and he could move in immediately.
Danie Labuschagne 27years: He was referred to me by police as he found himself destitute coming from Pretoria. I have assisted him with accommodation and he also get a grant and was asked to occasionally assist at Haven Homes in home based care.
John Deal 60years: He arrived at the shelter in a state of panic he claims the people he lived with abuse him and that he could no longer take the abuse. He is awaiting his grant being converted into pension. He is rather active and still continues to do casual work.
Jacobus De Beer 62years: He is originally from Johannesburg he has no family and needed accommodation. I have placed him on a waiting list at Haven Homes and he had been interviewed and know we are just awaiting an answer as to when he would be placed their.
Peter Pretorious 34 years: He was assisted with accommodation during the day time as he works night shift at a garage in Bellville.
Nyameko Matomane 37years: I have assisted him with overnight accommodation as he was being assisted by Silesians in their skills projects.
Mercia Hendricks 39 years: She had been living on the grounds of Red Cross children’s hospital. She was referred to me by a social worker that side. I assisted her with basic services at the shelter and accommodation and referral to our social worker for social service. At the time of intake she needed counseling.
Hilton Heugh 37 years: I assisted him with the basic services at the shelter as well as accommodation. He came from Sasulburg and found that he was no longer welcome at his families place.
Referral to Ramot rehab Name Surname Rehab Wendy Mclaren Ramot
Wendy Mclaren: She was referred to me by Monique Montanus social worker District six, to in house treatment at Ramot. I assisted with filling out of application form and requirements for rehab. I also contacted her family in order to get her support structure in place once she has completed her treatment. I have also been in contact with a social worker from George in terms of assistance for Wendy. She has had quite a challenging road behind her and also needs to restore her relationship with her daughters whom she hasn’t seen for many years as they are currently living with their dad and Wendy has no contact with them whatsoever. After treatment Wendy wishes to study Theology and we will be assisting her in fulfilling this dream. Wendy is respond well to treatment at Ramot.
Other services also rendered: Assisting clients with compiling of CV’s in order for them to be assisted with job placement or interviews.
